Hi there, my name is Sheryl, I come from Beijing, China.
I am a Chinese teacher currently based in Zurich, with a master’s degree in English Language and Literature; besides, I have more than 3 years of experience teaching Chinese (children 4-7 years old as well as Adults) in both English and German.
As a Chinese teacher, I understand the frustration that “Chinese is one of the most difficult languages in the world.” However, I believe that with a highly effective and fun way of teaching method, we can build up confidence and sure Chinese can also be learned more effortlessly.
As a passionate foreign language learner, I have spent many years learning English and German by myself. Therefore, I truly understand the special needs and the difficulties that we encounter in the process of learning, and I am eager to share my learning experience with you.
Learning and teaching are a complementary processes. In my lessons, I will tailor each lesson to your goals and pacing with clearly and systematically structured content and an easy-to-follow teaching style. For example, we will explore together the phonetic Chinese system, and the unique Chinese characters, conduct real-life conversations, tackle the grammatical difficulties, and get a deeper insight into authentic Chinese culture.
I have a sense of humor and an open-minded attitude, I will be very patient and make you feel comfortable even if mistakes are made; Apart from the Chinese language learning, I will also shed a light on Chinese culture, traditions, etc. so that the basic intercultural communication skills can be acquired in our lessons.
