Spanish for business, studies or relocation. 12+ years of experience doing business in Latin America at your disposal. ¡Conversemos!
I have a career in business that has spanned over a decade. As a manager, I have trained non-native Spanish speakers to foster meaningful professional relationships all over Latin America.
I have University-level training in Spanish grammar and style together with a bachelor's and master's in business.
I currently live in Warsaw suburbs and I would gladly share my knowledge with anyone that needs to get up-to-speed with a language that is as beautiful as rewarding.
I will train you at your own pace, but I won't let you lose momentum. You will be able to ask questions whenever you choose. You will receive timely feedback and, above all, my commitment to help you out.
Here a few questions I normally receive from students and a bit of my advice:
—How should I start learning? Watch movies you already know well but dubbed/subtitled in Spanish. Watch movies from the country you are aiming to but dubbed/subtitled in English or your native language. Meet locals in the city you live in. Get into conversation clubs, and make new friends!
—What's a minimum Spanish level I should get? As a tourist, you are fine with A1. As a foreign student or on a temporary contract B1/B2 should do. If you plan on doing business you should aim for C1 and beyond.
—Can I get around with English in Latin America? Yes, at main airports and highly touristy places, sure. But be prepared to pay tourist prices.
—Is it safe to travel everywhere in Latin America? Mostly yes but depending on countries there are certain areas that should better be avoided. Even locals do.
—Should I trust locals? Of course but be sure you have references to each one of them to avoid potential scammers. Latin America is full of kind and loving people and they are going to make you feel real good!
—How many hours a week should I devote to study Spanish to become proficient? As much as you can. As a rule of thumb, daily exposure is the key and no less that one hour a day. If you mix that with all the activities I mentioned above, then you are all set to become fluent in no time!
I have prepared students to visit, explore and relocate to a continent full of challenges and emotions—from Mexico to Chile and everywhere in between.
Any questions? Send them at gpujado at gmail and I will reply as soon as I can. Ready to get going? ¡Empecemos!
It's not a hard language to get started with. It's very well organized and contains clear exceptions. However, it does get more difficult to master when adding subjunctive mode and all the differences between countries. But here I am to help you out :)
Not a lot. There a few places to practice and Latin Americans are really eager to practice their mother tongue. Don't miss the opportunity!
